What I Love About Juicing?
In a nutshell, I get to flood my system with countless nutrients and don’t have to eat three pounds of fruit and vegetables to do so. Think about it! Could you sit down to a head of broccoli, 10 carrots, a cucumber, 3 apples, and a slice of ginger? Not only would that be an unpalatable meal to eat but you would struggle to physically get it down, not to mention the time taken to do so.
There’s something about juicing that gives me a feeling of lightness and great mental clarity. It has been said ‘You are what you eat’ and the more I juice and experience the benefits the more this becomes part of my experiential reality. Simply put, if I juice and look after my body, I feel good, when I pig out of fatty processed foods, I feel shit.
Juice fasting/feasting also helps me work on my food cravings. If I didn’t curb these cravings and ate with abandon, my weight would quickly spiral out of control. Food addiction is a serious problem in the U.S – worldwide in fact – and it seems to be getting worse. Just look at the obesity levels. Research has shown “recent evidence that suggests certain foods have the ability to disrupt, even hijack the brain, much like an addictive drug”(Source link). Who wants that in their life?
I want to have total control over what I put into my body. I don’t want to have a similar relationship to the food as a heroin or cocaine addict to their drug of choice. Food is having a similar effect on the brain as hard drugs do. Unbelievable but true!
I detest dieting. I love food so much – all kinds of food – and believe me, I indulge most weekends on a variety of fatty delights. I feel I deserve this when I have been spending the rest of the week treating my body well and nourishing it with healthy juices.
Juices are so tasty too. I am not a big fan of the usual dieting food. I never feel full after a salad or other low-fat meals. Not the case with a nutritious juice though. I rarely feel hungry.
Juicing makes me feel and also look good. This isn’t just about losing weight though. Weight loss is only a small part of it. Keeping our weight in the ‘normal’ range, in fact, is the natural result of looking after yourself mind, body and soul. A natural balance is restored.
Everything is connected. When you feel bad you eat bad, when you eat bad, you feel bad. This is the downward spiral. Juicing helps me rebalance the whole system from the inside out. This may sound wishy-washy to some of you but it’s the truth and makes perfect sense to me.
Don’t take my word for it though. If you’re on this page and still reading then you at least have an interest in juicing. You don’t have to go at it hard and heavy from day one. Test the waters. Start off replacing a meal with a healthy juice and go from there. Then try a day on juices only. How do you feel during and after a juice fast? Let your experience guide you as it has me.
Juicing is taking the world by storm and it’s no surprise to me. From celebrities to the ordinary guy or gal on the street juice feasting is catching on. Be part of the trend. Your body will thank you for it.
