When planning an extended juice fast it is advisable to keep a few things in mind.
Why are you planning to do it? Like anything else in life the reasons for doing something may give you a clue whether to do it or not, especially when embarking on such a thing as a lengthy juice fast which could adversely affect your health.
Are you doing this for aesthetic or health reasons? I tend to believe that those who set out on a fasting regime for the benefit of their health are more likely to stick it out and make it a long-terms part of their lifestyle than those who do it for purely weight loss or to look better in some way.
How long do you plan to juice for? If you are a beginner then it is suggested that you keep your juice fast short, ie. 3-5 days at the most.
I always find that it is better to decide ahead of time to how long I’m going to juice for, rather than leaving my options open. It’s like setting a goal. If I tell myself I’m going for 5 days then that’s my target in mind, and from my experience with juicing and other goal setting achievements, I’m more likely to reach the desired outcome.
Do you have a detailed plan of action? Whether you are going on a city break or preparing dinner for a group of friends it’s always better to have a plan. That way you’ll find your activity is much more plain sailing and less chance of any major mishaps.
There are numerous resources online – along with this one of course – that will help you make the most of your juice fast and make it pleasant, fruitful experience(pardon the pun:)).
Make sure to stock up well with all the juices and vegetables you need for the duration of your fast, keep strenuous activities to a minimum and plan light meals at the end of your juicing days, are a few of the things that you should definitely put into place.
The above is just a quick rundown of some things to bear in mind before you get started. If you have further questions I’d love to hear from you. Simply use the comments field below to get in touch or the contact form at the top of this page.
